Discover the new TR1 and TR2 training courses with the Quebec River Safety Consortium (CSRQ)

 

In 2020, Eau Vive Québec, Canot Kayak Québec, and the Lifesaving Society joined forces to rethink river safety in Quebec. This ambitious project led to the creation of the Quebec River Safety Consortium (CSRQ) and a complete overhaul of whitewater rescue (WRS) training courses, now replaced by the TR1 and TR2 levels.​​

  • TR1 – River Safety Technician:

May 03-04, 2025

​May 24-25, 2025

June 21-22, 2025

  • TR2 – River Rescue Technician:

June 31-1, 2025

June 28-29, 2025

  • Training available anytime upon request (minimum 4 participants).

 

⏰ Schedule

 

  • 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a 1-hour break

 

💸 Rates

 

  • TR1 – River Safety Technician: $330 + tax

  • TR2 – River Rescue Technician: $330 + tax

 

* 50% off the TR2 course if you take it during the same season (please contact us).

 

💳 Cancellation and Refunds

 

  • Free cancellation with at least 24 hours' notice

  • 24 hours or less: no refunds or credits.

 

🛟 Course Descriptions

 

  • TR1: River Safety Technician

 

This blended training (online and hands-on) is ideal for those working from the banks or in Class III rapids and below.

 

 

  • Goals:

 

Understand the basics of river safety. Learn prevention, self-recovery, and simple intervention techniques.

Master indirect contact rescue techniques.

  • Duration: 16 hours in-person + online training (approximately 4 hours).

  • TR2: River Rescue Technician

Designed for experienced paddlers, guides, and professionals, this advanced training prepares for interventions in high-risk areas.

  • Objectives:

Deepen your knowledge of river safety and intervention management.

Practice indirect and direct contact rescue techniques in real-life scenarios.

  • Duration: 16 hours in-person + online training (approximately 4 hours).

 

 

 

🧰 Training includes:

  • Certification valid for 3 years.

  • Online training.

  • Complete equipment: wetsuit, helmet, life jacket with quick-release belt, equipment for mechanical advantage systems, and rope bag.

 

Not included:

 

  • Meals and transportation to practice sites

 

🏊‍♂️ Prerequisites

 

  • TR1: Know how to swim

  • TR2: Hold the TR1 certification.
